Polina Knight is a British Ukrainian artist, currently living and working in the south of England. Having a diverse multicultural background she uses her creative practice as a means to find a sense of belonging and its importance to one's life. An impulsive and intuitive maker, her creations often develop during the making process itself, the direction they take is not immediately apparent.
Her current work is powered by her Ukrainian childhood, and gives way to a context of art and culture as an antidote to pain and war. Her creative practice embodies Ukrainian values into figurative work referencing political folk art. Drawing on the spirit of reliquary and the clandestine, her work is interactive and sometimes textural, with doors and drawers, hare's ears and fish tails, and hidden interiors.
